How To Apply
1. Students and parents/guardians should register for a PIN from the Department of Education. Students and parents/guardians with PINs can electronically sign their FAFSA. PIN Web site: www.pin.ed.gov
2. Submit the FAFSA after January 1st and print a copy for your records. Remember to designate Concordia College (Code #002346) as the data recipient. FAFSA completion may be done electronically. FAFSA Web site: www.fafsa.ed.gov
3. Print and submit the Concordia Supplemental Financial Aid Application directly to the Financial Aid Office.
4. Keep a copy of both parent/guardian and student 2006 Federal Income Tax Returns and W-2 froms in case they are needed for verification purposes.
5. Submit further information and/or documents that have been requested by the Financial Aid Office.
6. Review the Student Aid Report (SAR) for accuracy. If you provided an e-mail address when completing the FAFSA, you will receive e-mail notification that your SAR may be viewed online. Paper FAFSA submissions without an e-mail address will be mailed to your home address. Review the comments section in detail and make corrections if necessary. If the form is accurate, retain for your records and do not mail to Concordia. ALERT: Be sure to sign your FAFSA.
7. If steps 1-5 have been completed, you will receive an Award Letter from Concordia College.
8. If family resources become strained, contact the Financial Aid Office about alternative loan programs. If your financial situation is substantially worse, you may choose to Appeal your financial aid.
9. Once awarded, one-half of the financial aid (with the exception of campus employment) is credited to your account each semester. Earnings from campus employment will be paid directly to you by check each pay period. Outside scholarships are also credited one-half to each semester unless the donor requests that all funds be credited to either the first or second semester. Loans are credited to the account when funds arrive.
Concordia retains the right to revise the aid package if other resources or external financial aid become available or the financial information originally submitted is incorrect. The college will also increase the aid package if unusual circumstances merit the change and if funds are still available.
