Values Matter
Friday, December 7, 2007
12:00 p.m.- 1:15 p.m.
Birkland Alumni Lounge,
Concordia College
Cost: $10.00
Presenter: Mary Jo Lewis, M.D.
Description:
Servant leadership has long been associated with values and ethical
leadership. Mary Jo Lewis, asks the question, how does one live in the
tension of being both servant and leader? Can Ibe an effective leader if
Idon’t first consider myself a servant? Living in the tension of this
paradox is not intuitive and is certainly not easy, but Robert Greenleaf
and others would say it was necessary. In order to foster and preserve
our own integrity … our personal ethical stance, we need to consider
what is truly means to exercise leadership in our world at home, at
work, and in the community.
Mary Jo Lewis, has an undergraduate and medical degree from the
University of North Dakota, completed her Internal Residency at
Fargo, and has an M.A. in Christian Spirituality from Creighton
University in Omaha. She also teaches in the University of St.
Thomas Physician Leadership College in the field of adaptive
leadership.
