Presenter: Catherine McMullen, associate professor of journalism at Concordia College, The Concordian advise, and Forum contributing writer.
Description: The news media are under close scrutiny for what and how they report news and are often criticized for bring biased and/or creating entertainment rather than objective reporting. But the decisions are not easy. What should we print and what shouldn't we print? To whom do the media owe loyalty? Catherine McMullen teaches journalism and has several years experience as a Forum writer. She will discuss those issues related to journalism in general and the print media in particular. McMullen will present real case studies, and the audience will put on the editor's hats to think about how they would make ethically sound decisions.
