Preventative Chiropractic Care Program
Concordia College provides a Preventative Chiropractic Care program
for all employees as part of the College's Worker's Compensation program.
Data has shown that back-related injuries are the most frequent
type of Worker's Compensation injury, and carpal tunnel-related injuries
are the most costly types of Worker's Compensation injury. A
preventative chiropractic care program is beneficial for both kinds
of injuries.
This program is voluntary for all permanent, full-time/half time College
employees and is for preventative care only. This program is
separate from Worker's Compensation, which covers work-related injuries,
and separate from the College's health insurance plan, which covers
personal injury and illness. This program will not cover treatment
of injuries occurring on-the-job or off the job.
Designated Chiropractic Care Providers:
Concordia College surveyed its employees to gather information about
service providers. After tabulating survey results, reviewing
service proposals, and checking references, the following chiropractic
clinics were selected for the Preventative Chiropractic Care Program:
Askland-Yohe Chiropractic, LTD
2800 S. University Drive, Fargo
Med-Plus Health Care
3210 Hwy. 10 E., Moorhead
Morlock Chiropractic Center
1602 30th Ave. S., Moorhead
Moorhead Chiropractic Clinic
213 S. 7th St., Moorhead
Roth Chiropractic
1906 30th Ave. S., Moorhead
Robert S. Johnson
3620 Bemidji Ave N, Bemidji, MN
Employees participating in the program must be treated by one of these
service providers. Employees should reference the Concordia College
Preventative Chiropractic Care Program when being treated by one of
the designated providers. Concordia College will be billed for
these services, so employees will not need to pay for those services.
Available Services:
Initial Consultation: Employees will be allowed one
consultation visit upon inception of the program or their participation
in the program. The purpose of the initial consultation is to
give the designated service provider the opportunity to learn about
the employee's medical history and determine what, if any, preventative
chiropractic care is appropriate.
Preventative Treatments: Each employee participating in the
preventative care program may elect to use a maximum of 12 treatments
during a fiscal year. Treatments are to be scheduled on an as-needed
basis at the discretion of the employee and the service provider.
X-Rays: One set of X-rays per year will be allowed at the discretion
of the designated service provider. It is not anticipated that
X-rays will be necessary in each case, but this option is included should
it be deemed necessary by the service provider.
Employee Responsibility:
Employees are locked into one year's service with their chiropractor
of choice because of initial assessment costs. While employees
do not have to continue care for one year, they cannot change service
providers during the contract year.
Employees can use the plan only outside of work hours. The service
providers chosen for this program have flexible office hours to accommodate
various work schedules.
Employees call in to set up appointments on an as-needed basis. Employees are not to pre-arrange for their next visit at the end of
their current visit.
Chiropractor Responsibility:
Chiropractors are bound to a one-year contract with Concordia
College and agree to the following conditions:
A reduced fee schedule for service.
No charge for missed/cancelled appointments.
If an employee needs to be seen more than three times
in a one-month period of time, the service provider will call Roger
Olson (299-3682) or Junell Bishop (299-4242) to explain why the additional
service is needed. Depending on the specific circumstances,
additional appointments may need to be covered by Worker's Compensation
or personal health insurance.
No pre-arrangement for the next visit is allowed. Employees are to call in at a later date to schedule another appointment on an as-needed basis.
Monthly billings will be directed to Junell Bishop at Concordia College.
Chiropractors that are chosen for the program agree to an annual walk- through of the facility.
The Preventive Chiropractic Program does not cover therapy treatments.
Employer's Responsibility:
Concordia College will re-evaluate the Preventive Chiropractic Program and its service providers on an annual basis. Employees may forward any comments or concerns that will aid in the re-evaluation to Roger Olson (
rolson@cord.edu ) or Junell Bishop (
jbishop@cord.edu ).
Concordia College will keep records of how often employees are using the Preventative Chiropractic Care Program versus Worker's Compensation claims to measure the program's effectiveness.
