About Credo
Credo is an academic honors program for high-ability, highly motivated students who accept the challenge of actively exploring the ideas that have shaped western civilization.
Credo students participate in stimulating discussions and develop intellectual and social relationships as they challenge themselves and each other in this rigorous interdisciplinary program.
During their first three years at Concordia, Credo students take four specially designed Credo courses in natural sciences and mathematics, social sciences, humanities, and fine arts.
These courses, open only to Credo students, are frequently team taught by outstanding faculty who bring distinctive approaches and perspectives to the subjects. Credo course topics are not usually covered in other courses at Concordia and typically several courses are offered each semester. During their fourth year, students complete a capstone project that is typically the seminar course in their major.
The Credo Honors Program also includes an optional semester abroad, known as Study in Crete, designed for third-year Credo students. Two faculty and students travel to Greece, spending most of their time on the island of Crete, where they live in a resort hotel in Iraklion, the island's major city. Students and faculty travel to important archaeological sites that may include mainland Greece, Turkey and Italy. The program varies each year with classes and travel experiences designed with the faculty leaders' interests and expertise in mind. |
