Join
us as we gather at our new location for Hometown,
Europe 2004. Young people, ages 11-18, from
all over the world come together to learn English
in the beautiful village of Leysin, Switzerland!
The
Village of Leysin overlooks the Rhone Valley and
Lake Geneva. The beauty of the Swiss and French
Alps and excellent facilities offer a perfect environment
for having fun while learning English. The village
is 120 Kilometers east of Geneva, and is accessible
by plane, train, and automobile. Hometown, Europe
staff members will escort your child to and from
Geneva to the English Language Village at the beginning
and end of the session.
Hometown, Europe offers opportunities for
learning and fun no matter what your interests or
English-speaking ability. From hobbies like arts,
crafts, dance and music to games like tennis, volleyball,
basketball and frisbee golf, you and other participants
will spend your days taking part in exciting activities—all
in English. As part of a new English-speaking community,
you will even create your own city, complete with
business, government, laws, and—of course—taxes.
A trained staff of Americans and international,
English-speaking professionals will be there with
you, making sure that you're having the best time
and maximizing your learning while having a great
time taking part in language activities and excursions.
Technology will also be a big focus of your time
at Hometown, Europe. Our staff will teach
you to work with computers, digital cameras and
other equipment to create your own stories, make
movies and build robotic machines or creatures.
Significant funding for technology and cultural
realia for Hometown, Europe and other
Concordia Language Village programs has been provided
by the IBM Global Work/Life Funds. More than 250
children of IBM employees participate in our programs
each summer.
