Some
student responses to summer camp
"For
the first time in my life I have experienced what it is like
to truly live within a vocation. I was so certain that God
had called me to work at camp. I could never imagine having
'just another job' again."
"This
summer really made me realize my desire to work with children.
I had the chance to work with some fairly troubled youth,
and I realized that I want to have a chance to make a difference
in any child's life. I really feel that a career in psychology
would give me that chance."
"God
has called me to be a pastor in His church. This is a calling
I know in my heart is what I have been made for, but sometimes
I doubt myself and my gifts. Being at camp and living constantly
in this God-filled environment of witnessing has cemented
in my mind the path God wants me to follow."
"Even
though my area of study at Concordia is not directly related
to future work in the Church, I have learned the importance
of being a positive Christian example in amy workplace. And
I have developed a passion for being involved in the Church
and will certainly volunteer at a church in some capacity
after college."
"I
am now considering getting involved in the Church Professions
program at Concordia. I realize also that I have a passion
for leading worship music."
"I
am planning to go into youth ministry, so working at camp
helped confirm my calling in many ways. Working with kids
in a Christian setting with an amazing staff amidst God's
creation helped me to remember how much fun and what a privilege
it is to serve God through ministry. I was able to use my
God-given strengths and gifts for the right reasons."
"Before
I worked at camp, I had not considered a job in youth ministry.
Now I am definitely leaving the option open. Regardless as
to which vocation I choose, I know that I want to work with
youth and make a difference in their lives."
