Sara Meslow, Founder and Executive Director of Camp Odayin for Kids with Heart Disease

Sara Meslow is a '92 graduate of Concordia College. A life-long camper and a heart patient herself, Sara is the founder and director of Camp Odayin for Kids with Heart Disease. She has worked and volunteered at many camps and holds undergraduate degrees in social work and communications, as well as a graduate degree in youth development leadership from the University of Minnesota.
Camp Odayin offers 3 weeks of residential camping at Camp Knutson in Cross Lake, MN, for ages 8-17 as well as a one week day camp at Dodge Nature Center in West St. Paul MN, for children ages 6-7. Sara believes in the positive impact summer camp can have on everyone, especiall children with special health concerns.
Sara served as an elementary school social worker in Forest Lake, MN and volunteered for 3 summers at a camp for young heart patients in California, before her mother suggested she start one in Minnesota. With funding support from others, the beginning of Camp Odayin was born. Sara organized the non-profit Camp Odayin, raised money, recruited volunteers including cardiologists and nurses, developed programs and sought campers through cardiologists, school nurses and parent support groups.
