Biology Department Research Page

Research is at the heart of biology (any science) and something we would like to expose all of our students to. One way to do that is through our departmental Honors program. Excellent junior biology majors are invited to apply to the honors program which includes carrying out, writing up and presenting original research in the area of biology. Several faculty members are available to serve as mentors in this process. For the past several years we have been able to sponsor up to 12 students per summer doing research funded from various sources. Current information can be obtained by contacting the departmental office.

In addition, some students are accepted into research labs at other institutions, complete their research off-campus and return to present their findings to the Concordia Community. There are several web sites that may serve as starting points for searches for off-campus research experiences.

  • Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Grant Program
  • REU Research Experience for Undergraduates (NSF program)
