ROSS HILGERS attended Fort Hays University in Hays, Kansas from 1985 to 1992. It was there that he recieved his B.F.A. and M.F.A. He specialized in ceramic sculpture, large thrown forms, terra sigillata, sagger firing, raku firing and Art education K-12. Hilgers is a member of the Art Educators of Minnesota and was chosen as Teacher of the Year at Pioneer Trail Junior High School in Olathe, KS for the 1996-97 school year. His artwork has been published in "Kerameiki techni," the International Ceramic Art Review and in "1994 Fletcher Challenge Award," Ceramics Monthly. He has received awards from national and international art exhibitions in Fargo, North Dakota, Omaha, Nebraska and New Zealand, and has shown work in many other exhibitions throughout the United States. He was a Featured Presenter for the Art on the Plains Exhibition, Artist Lecture Series at the Plains Art Museum in Fargo, North Dakota in 2000. Hilgers has been a member of the Art department at Concordia College since 1998.
