![]() Campaign for Concordia Surpasses $100 Million Mark The College has exceeded the $100 million mark in the Campaign for Concordia, making it the most successful fund-raising effort in the history of the college. The total to date exceeds the original campaign goal of $80 million by more than $20 million. The campaign will conclude June 30, 2007. "This is a monumental milestone in the life of Concordia," said Ron Offutt, board of regents chair and campaign co-chair. "The remarkable generosity demonstrated by the Concordia community is bold affirmation that the college's mission is alive and well. These gifts will help take Concordia to new heights of distinction in the 21st century." "Concordia's bright future is here," said Dick Solberg, board of regents member and campaign co-chair. "There is tremendous momentum at the college and the amazing success of this campaign will further accelerate our progress. The ultimate winners are Concordia students, who will benefit from these gifts in many important ways." Nearly one-third of funds raised will be used to pay for the soon-to-be completed Campus Center. The Campus Center will provide 69,000 square feet of new space. Adding together new construction and renovations, the entire Campus Center will amass 95,000 square feet – nearly four times the size of the current Knutson Center. Primary amenities include consolidated food services and main-level dining, centralized student services and offices for student organizations, and space for worship, study, socialization and entertainment. The new portion of the Campus Center will open this fall and the entire facility will be completed by fall 2008. "The success of the campaign is a tribute to Concordia alumni and friends and their love for this place," said President Pam Jolicoeur. "What this means to the future of our students and our ability to deliver the Concordia experience can hardly be overstated. The college is exceptionally fortunate to have such loyal and generous support." In addition to funding the $32 million Campus Center, the campaign will support academic programming, including Concordia's award-winning international education offerings. Funds will also be used to enhance student scholarships and other fundamental priorities of the college. - Back to eNews | |
