![]() Students Immerse Themselves in Italian Art, Music When eight Concordia students and Dr. Abra Bush travel to Italy this May, they will learn to mold clay, create art, make traditional foods and sing operas, all in Italian. This new Italy Summer Student Abroad program will focus on the musical arts of Italy and is one of four summer school options overseas offered by Concordia. The students will stay in Rome, Urbania and Milan, though the bulk of their time will be spent in Urbania where Bush, an assistant music professor, spent time traveling with her alma mater. "Since none of the colleges in the area offer Italian and because it is a vital language for so many disciplines, including mine, I want to offer students the opportunity to become familiar with the language and culture of the country that I have come to love," Bush says. They will spend two days in Rome where they will take a tour of the city, explore the Vatican and enjoy an exquisite gelateria. Then it's off to Urbania, with opportunities for day trips to San Marino, Assisi, Pesaro and Perugia. The travelers will spend the remainder of their days in Milan where they will see Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper," tour a Gothic cathedral and see the trends of Milan's fashion district. - Back to eNews | |
