Krejci Accepts Position as Dean and Academic V.P.
Dr. Mark Krejci, interim dean for the past year, has been named Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs. During his 18 years at Concordia, Krejci has served in significant leadership roles and has been recognized for this outstanding teaching, research and mentoring abilities.
Dr. Krejci believes Concordia is a "college on the move" and pledges to continue a close working relationship with faculty as the college accelerates its pursuit of excellence.
"I believe Concordia has strengths other schools emulate," says Krejci. "As dean, I will work with the faculty to produce a new core curriculum and I will be an advocate for faculty development as we continue taking our academic program to the next level of quality. I will foster open dialogue and I will listen and respond."
Faculty are currently studying and debating models and ideas for changes to the curriculum, a process led by the Academic Dean. Krejci says he supports changing the curriculum. "I see my role as not saying no, but rather, how can we do this? I know how to advocate for change and I have achieved results."
As Vice President for Academic Affairs, Krejci promises to stay connected. "In managing the resources of the college, I will do three things: maintain relationships with faculty; manage our resources wisely while being the leading advocate for our academic program; and effectively manage day-to-day activities by building close working relationships with the president and the vice presidents of the college."
During interviews for the position, Krejci also said, "I will always see myself as a member of the faculty. My career is here at Concordia."
Krejci joined the psychology faculty in 1987 and has chaired the department since 1989. He has broad interests in counseling, religion and international education. He has served as editor of "Psychology of Religion Newsletter," has published numerous journal articles, and has made presentations at regional and national conferences.
Krejci earned his bachelor's degree from the University of North Dakota, and his master's and doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Notre Dame.
