Inauguration of Dr. Pamela M. Jolicoeur

Events related to the eagerly awaited inauguration of President Pamela M. Jolicoeur begin Thursday, April 21 and conclude with the Oratorio on Sunday, April 24.

On Saturday, April 23, Dr. Jolicoeur will be officially installed as the 10th president of Concordia College. The academic ceremony begins at 11 a.m. in Memorial Auditorium.

Representatives from many ELCA colleges will attend, and two presidents, Rev. Christopher Thomforde of St. Olaf and Dr. Richard Torgerson ’64 of Luther College, will be among the speakers. More...




College Gears Up for Mind & Music Expo

Great music is only part of what you'll find at Concordia's new Mind & Music Expo Sunday, April 10 at Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis.

The event, geared towards prospective students, is a vibrant mix of Concordia's great academic and music traditions. From 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., a dozen faculty members, including former NASA scientist Dr. Heidi Manning, will be on hand to visit with students about Concordia's programs and research opportunities.

Four faculty members from the music department will direct a concert at 4 p.m. featuring The Concordia Choir, The Concordia Orchestra, The Concordia College Concert Band and The Concordia College Jazz Ensemble I. The Concordia music ensembles will be joined by guest choirs from Stillwater High School, Hopkins High School and Wayzata High School for the concert finale.

Mind & Music Expo admission is free and anyone interested in learning more about Concordia-Moorhead is welcome to attend.



Maasai Girls Choir Promotes Cultural Awareness


The Thursday, April 21 concert of the Maasai Girls Choir is a unique opportunity to gain awareness of an ancient African culture that is now threatened by encroachment from the modern world.

The concert of sacred and tribal music is at 7:30 p.m. in the Knutson Center Centrum. Tickets are available at the door and are discounted for seniors and students. More...


Krejci Named Academic Dean

Dr. Mark Krejci, interim dean for the past year, has been named Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs. During his 18 years at Concordia, Krejci has served in significant leadership roles and has been recognized for this outstanding teaching, research and mentoring abilities.

Dr. Krejci believes Concordia is a "college on the move" and pledges to continue a close working relationship with faculty as the college accelerates its pursuit of excellence.

"I believe Concordia has strengths other schools emulate," says Krejci. "As dean, I will work with the faculty to produce a new core curriculum and I will be an advocate for faculty development as we continue taking our academic program to the next level of quality. Athletes Rewarded with Prestigious Scholarships

Concordia College-Moorhead recently garnered more NCAA honors than any other college across all divisions.

Concordia students Nick Myran (cross-country), Jordan Talge (football) and Jessica Walden (volleyball) earned NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships worth $7,500. The association recognized their excellence both in and out of the sports arena. More...

Cobber athletic teams have had an exceptional year, dominating the MIAC in several sports and producing four league most valuable players and two coaches of the year.

(Back row) Jessica Walden ’05 Hawley, Minn., earned MVP honors in volleyball and was named to the ESPN Magazine Academic All-America team. Terry Horan was named MIAC coach of the year for guiding the Cobber football team to an 11-1 record and the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. Brian Schumacher ’06 Thompson, N.D., was named conference MVP in football.

(Front row) Mandy Pearson ’05 Watkins, Minn., earned her second consecutive MVP award in leading the women’s basketball team to second place in the MIAC. Morgan Bain ’07, Hugo, Minn., became the first Cobber to earn conference MVP honors in soccer after setting a school record by scoring 24 goals and 53 points. Women’s basketball coach Jessica Rahman was named MIAC coach of the year.

During their playing days, both Horan ‘89 and Rahman ‘88 won conference MVP awards, proof that excellence can be passed along.
