Concordia Class of 2001 Reunion Page

June 2006

Dear Classmates of 2001,

Greetings from St. Paul!  I hope you had another successful year. I am very excited to begin my duties as our new class agent. As I reported in February, former class agent Sarah Nathan now works at Concordia and decided to pass the responsibilities on to me.  Before you know it, we will be partying the night away at Fargo’s hippest new establishment, the Hotel Donaldson, celebrating our five-year reunion! Homecoming 2006 is going to be a spectacular weekend and it will be exciting to reconnect with fellow Cobbers. Can you believe how quickly the last five years have passed?

No matter where the last five years have taken you, I hope you’ve carried cherished Cobber friends with you. One of the highlights of my year was reconnecting with my freshman roommate, Megan (Grubbs) Peschman. We’ve have had a wonderful time reminiscing about the good ’ol days in Fjelstad and get together regularly now. We decided Concordia is one great place with great people—and we miss it very much. Even more incentive to return for Homecoming!

I am very happy to report that our class fared very well in this year’s class challenge with 15.3% participation (an increase of 2% from last year). Even more exciting is that our class contributed the most amongst the 2000 classes. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed this year. I encourage more of you to participate in the coming year—your gift is a way to say “thank you” for the firm foundation Concordia has provided us with. I hope you will join me and our classmates in the Reunion Giving effort, chaired by Jenny Bohnsack Olson and Andy Johnson, in honoring our 5th reunion. You can use the enclosed envelope to send in your gift, give online, or give during the annual phonathon when a current student calls you. Gifts of all sizes make a big difference!

You can also help us spread the word about Concordia’s world class education by sharing your Concordia story with high school students that you know. Recommending potential students helps build the Concordia Community in a significant way. Visit the website www.KnowConcordia.com for more information.

Before I get to the news of our classmates, an important reminder to keep your records current at the College.  A current mailing address is especially important so that you will receive the Concordia magazine, special announcements about events in your area, and of course, this wonderful letter that I will be writing each year.  Any time you move, get married, change jobs, earn an advanced degree, or have children, take a few moments to submit a class note online or in writing.  I just did exactly that when I married on May 26th.  Even though my husband isn’t a Cobber, it was a mini reunion with lots of our classmates and friends in attendance, including: Sara Grineski, Mollie (Coleman) Trewartha, Steve Edlund, Elisa (Oldenburg) Edlund ‘98, Megan (Grubbs) Peschman, and my Orientation Communicator turned Wedding Photographer, Searle Swedlund ‘98.
