Classmates of 1975:
Is there anything more one can ask of Concordia for the 2005-06 school year?
Hello once again from the West. Summer is almost upon us, although there was frost on the windshield this morning in Montana and snow has closed the road to Glacier National Park. Oh well---tomorrow maybe 80 degrees. The spring rains have made Montana as green as we have seen in years. One can only hope the moisture continues throughout the summer to keep the forest fires low in numbers.
Homecoming is just around the corner. Don’t forget to make your motel reservations, reserve homecoming show tickets, register for homecoming and our 30TH REUNION ACTIVITIES. Homecoming is September 30-October 2. The theme “Sweeter with Time” obviously was chosen with our class in mind. Haven’t we all become Sweeter with Time? Our reunion breakfast is 8:00 am, Saturday, October 1 and the parade at 11:00 am. Please take a look at our reunion information on the Cord web site www.ConcordiaCollege.edu/1975. We are hoping to make this a MEMORABLE experience. Any ideas you have let me (or Gwen) know via email. Joe at brottjo@yahoo.com and Gwen at gwbrott@yahoo.com
I want to encourage everyone to submit a class note (when appropriate). It is always great to read what is happening to classmates whether it is career changes, job promotions, or retirement. Below are some class notes:
Honors/Awards
David Aschenbeck, Newark, Ohio, received the Gold Level Marzocci Award for the Owens Corning Company as an inventor of more than 25 U.S. patents; he was also honored for 25 years of service to Owens Corning, where he is a senior research associate.
Dale Stensgaard, Grand Forks, N.D., received first place for Headlines and second place for Special News Section in the N.D. Newspaper Association Better Newspaper Contest; he is a copy editor for the Grand Forks Herald.
Class Notes:
Steve Bain, Bismarck, N.D., is owner and president of Bain Agency, which he purchased as Brown & Brown Ins.
Doris (White) Stusiak, Aberdeen, S.D., is director of human resources at Presentation College.
Adoption: Clarine Nelson, Fulda, Minn., adopted a baby boy, Norman, and twin girls, Shianna and Tianna in November; Norman was born in November 1997 and the twins were born in January 2000.
Every year, I am challenged to come up with a different twist to encourage you to support Concordia. My hope is that you will remember back to your days at Concordia and friends you made (or better yet, married), the faculty who prepared you for your future endeavors and the college itself which has always lived up to its motto, Soli Deo Gloria. Every year I put more emphasis on the number of participants rather than the dollar amount. The truth is some classes do better than others with the dollars contributed thanks to a few heavy hitters. We can’t all hit home runs, but enough singles win games.
This past year 30.3% of our class took part in the Concordia Class Challenge. I know times are tough, but every little gift helps – and our participation is based on the number of us who donate, not the amount we give. I challenge all of us to give a little something and let’s see if we can be at the top of our decade for this year. When you get that friendly phone call please say “yes” to even a small amount.
Last---Concordia stays strong by the prospective students alumni recommend. Continue to look for students who would be a good fit for Concordia. Encourage them to apply and give Concordia a chance.
Remember – HOMECOMING 2005---30TH YEAR REUNION---We look forward to seeing everyone that attends.
Until September----
