Dear ’63 Cobbers,

Two important dates for members of our class:

  1. For those turning 62 this year, many will be eligible to draw social security benefits.
  2. We ALL celebrate our 40th class reunion this year.

Events for our upcoming reunion will include:

*    Reunion breakfast will be a hot breakfast served in Grant Center, East Complex at 8:00 a.m.

**  Gathering place for Class of ’63 will be the Green Mill Restaurant at 3340 13th Ave S., Fargo ND, from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m.

I have reserved 30 rooms at the Hampton Inn, Fargo, ND, for October 3rd through 5th.  The cost per room is $75.00, plus $9.50 tax per night.  This price is for rooms with 2-double beds or 1-king bed.  Reservations are being held under Concordia Class of ’63, group number 87911876 or group number 82669668.  Make your reservations as soon as possible:  Hampton Inn - (701) 235‑5566.

Sold real estate for the past 20 years and owns rental properties.

Retired from high school teaching, currently teaching college biology half-time on the Internet.

Spent 14 years teaching elementary education and has spent the last 20 years teaching 2nd language to refugees.

Spent last 24 years on the technical development staff for Lucent.

Retired five years ago as head of the German Dept. at John Marshall H.S., then taught three years at the Community College in Rochester, MN.

Working for Eastman Kodak for the past 25 years, now a branch of Heiddberg Digital.

Retired in 𔄖 after 28 years of teaching elementary education and winters in Arizona.

Retired this year after 22 years in the banking industry.

Taught economics in college for five years. Received law degree at Drake University and practiced business corporate law until 1995.  Manages property in retirement years.

Paul Styve

With 34 yrs of teaching Biology and Math, Paul retired from Rochester Mayo High School.  Now has a hobby farm with a large metal and woodworking shop.

Dr. Bruce Gronbeck
Iowa City, IA

Honored as a Craig Baird Distinguished Professor of Public Address.  He teaches and writes about American cultural studies and the evaluation of rhetorical thought especially from the 18th century to the present.  Bruce received the National Communication Association Mentor award November 21, 2002.

Thorpe Running
St. Cloud, MN

Received the inaugural Thorpe Running Inspiration Award from Midwest Multisport.  In the future, this award will be given to a dual-athlete or Tri-athlete who shows exceptional courage.

Attended Cobber family day at the Baltimore Oriole Park with six other Cobbers.

I am extremely proud of our class.  We have been greatly blessed and we know how to share.  This past year we ranked third in giving of all the graduating classes!

1st        Class of 1966              $538,867

2nd       Class of 1932              $417,093

3rd        Class of 1963              $308,308

We increased our giving by $3,600 and participation from 34% to 40.8%.  We had 19 additional classmates make gifts last year – well done!!

 

Enclosed you will find a special envelope addressed to the 40th Reunion Class Gift.  In honor of our 40th class reunion, please consider a gift to the college.  All gifts received between May 1, 2002 and September 1, 2003 will count towards our gift.  The total amount will be announced during the Friday night Homecoming Banquet.

 

You can now be a C-400 Investor by making a gift of $400 during one fiscal year (May 1-April 30).  For gifts of $1000, $2,500, $5,000 and $10,000 during one fiscal year, you will be a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Investor.  A letter and brochure with all the details will be mailed later this summer.  If you have questions, please call Lonnie at the Annual Giving Office, 299-3988 or 800-699-9020.
