Postsecondary Enrollment Options

What is the Postsecondary Enrollment Options Program?

Full-time:
The Postsecondary Enrollment Options Program (PSEOP) enables 12th grade public school students to enroll in courses at eligible postsecondary institutions in Minnesota.  Concordia College is one of the eligible institutions.  The program encourages rigorous educational pursuits and provides a wider variety of options to high school students.

Part-time: The Postsecondary Enrollment Options Program (PSEOP) enables 11th and 12th grade students to enroll in courses at eligible postsecondary institutions in Minnesota. Concordia College is one of the eligible institutions. The program encourages rigorous educational pursuits and provides a wider variety of options to high school students.

Who Can Apply?

Full-time: Any 12th grade student who attends a Minnesota public school outside of reasonable commuting distance may apply for full-time admission.

Part-time: Any 11th or 12th grade student who attends a Minnesota school within reasonable commuting distance and meets the requirements of their individual high school may apply for part-time admission.

How do I apply for PSEOP at Concordia?

First you and your parents should discuss this option with your high school guidance counselor.  You must fill out a Concordia College application for admission, submit two references (one from your guidance counselor), and send a copy of your most current high school transcript.

You must also fill out the Minnesota Access Application form which is a supplement for PSEOP applicants. Since Concordia is a selective college, you must meet all admission standards to be accepted. Preference is given to incoming first-year students before considering PSEOP students.

When Should I apply?

Full-time: You may apply anytime throughout the year. Your acceptance will be based on academic progress through the first term of your junior year, references and available space.

Part-time: You may apply anytime throughout the year. Part-time applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis. However, keep in mind your individual high school’s deadlines when applying.

Where would I live?

Full-time
: PSEOP students live in our residence halls. Once you are accepted to Concordia, you have the option of sending a $200 deposit which will reserve your spot in a residence hall.

Part-time: Part-time PSEOP students live at home and commute to their classes at Concordia College.

Will I receive Financial Aid?
Full-time: Since you have yet to graduate from high school, you are not eligible for financial aid. However, as a participant in this program, you are receiving assistance from both the state of Minnesota and Concordia College.  The cost of tuition and fees at Concordia ($19,635 for 2005-06) is paid in part by the state of Minnesota. The remainder is provided by the college. The cost of your books is covered by the college. You and your family are responsible for room and board ($4,990 for 2005-06) and if you so choose, the cost of private music lessons ($300 a semester).

Part-time: Since you have yet to graduate from high school, you are not eligible for financial aid.  However, as a participant in this program, you are receiving assistance from both the state of Minnesota and Concordia College.  The cost of tuition at Concordia is paid in part by the state of Minnesota. The college covers the remainder of the costs. The college also pays for your books.

How many classes can I take?
Full-time: If you are accepted as a full-time PSEOP student, you can register for either three or four courses per semester. You may not take religion courses.

Part-time: If you are accepted as a part-time PSEOP student, you can register for one or two courses per semester. You may not take courses in physical education or religion. Careful planning is a must since some of your high school classes may conflict with the college course(s) you want to take.

When do I register for classes?
Full-time: Once you send in your $200 deposit, you are able to register for classes along with incoming first-year students. We hold two registration weeks on our campus and one in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.

Part-time: Each PSEOP student will meet with the Assistant Registrar on an individual basis to complete the registration card and register for classes prior to the start of each academic semester. Each PSEOP student will also receive a campus post office box, an email address and password, and a Concordia College ID card at this time.
