Public Lecture:
Public lecture by Spirit Room founder Marilynn Quam-Valenzuala about her spirtual journey as a "yogic" nun and practioner of Oneness spirituality.
Marilynn, who goes by the spiritual name of Mamata, grew up in Hawley, MN and attended MSUM after which she spent 15 years as a "yogic" nun in India and Sweden. As a yogic nun she taught yoga and meditation, and worked in the former Soviet Union where she started various social service projects such as children's homes and kindergartens. After she left her religious community, Mamata returned to Moorhead-Fargo and together with Dawn Morgan founded the Spirit Room.
Currently, Marilynn lives in southern California with her husband John. She is a singer, musician, yoga teacher and certified Oneness trainer. She is also the founder of "Shakti Grooves Yoga Dance" which integrates the principles of yoga with creative movement and dance.
Lecture starts at 7 PM Tuesday, March 19, in Jones A/B KCCenter
Sponsored by Forum on Faith and Life and Office of Core and Advising.
