Shaping Our Future Considering Our Shared Responsibilities
Concordia faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in a national conversation about how we can create the kind of society we want: Shaping Our Future: Considering Our Shared Responsibilties.
On Wednesdays, March 6 and April 3, 6:30-9pm, facilitated discussions will focus on how different sectors of our community play roles in shaping our shared vision for the future. The March 6 session will focus on the role of nonprofits in shaping health community by examining three different approaches to nonprofit work: economic development, social capital and public policy/political action. The April 3 session will explore the impact individuals can have on community health and vitality.
Although significant participation by attendees is encouraged, there is no prerequisite knowledge or experience needed. Participants are all considered knowledgeable based on personal experiences. The goal of each session is not to debate but to have purposeful discussion in hopes of understanding differing perspectives.
Concordia College is interested in engaging communities and individuals in public deliberation about important issues that impact our communities. Various facilitators who have been trained in the Deliberative Dialogue model will be available for both sessions. Training will be provided on a regular basis for those who want to learn how to facilitate such discussions. Shaping our Future is co-sponsored by Student Leadership & Service and F/M Communiversity.
There is no charge to participate. The sessions will be held at the Grant Center (Offutt School of Business).
