Lutheran World Relief Leader to Speak at Concordia College
The Office of Vocation and Church Leadership at Concordia College extends invitation to an engaging and informative lecture by Dan Lee, Vice President of External Relations for Lutheran World Relief (LWR). The event is free and open to the public.
7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 12
Morrie Jones Conference Center A/B
Concordia College, Moorhead, MN
As a frequent, and much sought after speaker and preacher for LWR, Dan seeks to passionately connect the Christian life of faith with a global perspective of faithful response to hunger, poverty and injustice. Dan received his B.A. in Communications from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and a Master of Divinity degree from Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Lutheran World Relief is an international nonprofit organization specializing in international development and disaster relief. LWR promotes sustainable development by helping communities increase the quality of life, engage in fair trade, and be better equipped to handle emergencies. The expanded mission LWR originated from its beginnings as a non-governmental organization founded in 1945 for helping many European Lutherans who suffered devastation during World War II. In the wake of the 2004 Southeast Asia Tsunami, Newsweek Magazine ranked LWR as one of the best international relief agencies, giving the Lutheran group an "A+" rating. LWR continues to receive high rankings from organizations such as the American Institute of Philanthropy, which gave LWR an A rating in 2007 through 2010, and Charity Navigator, which rated LWR the maximum four stars. LWR is a member of ACT Development, a global alliance of churches and related agencies working on development that are committed to working together.
