Rwanda Fund Raising

Each May since 2009, Concordia students have participated in the Rwanda: Service in the Heart of Africa, Summer Field Studies program. Students have taught English to genocide orphans; aided teachers at a primary school and a school for deaf children;

and worked with primary school teachers, House Mothers and Aunties at SOS Children’s Village.

In addition to our person-to-person work, we try to bring books, school and recreational supplies, and cash gifts to aide the underfunded organizations we work with, particularly the School for Deaf Children (the group photo on the Fair Children website is our 2010 group). This year, we will do a photography project with young people at SOS called, “This Is My Rwanda.” We will need funds to bring some inexpensive cameras and memory cards.

The 2013 group will have a table in the Atrium, Monday, February 18 through Friday, February 22. We will be selling Herbergers Community Day coupon books ($5.00 each for a $10 off coupon + $400 other ways to save). We will, of course, accept donations without the purchase of a coupon book!

Please help us raise money for our projects in Rwanda and for the organizations we work with.
