The People Speak Again
Too often students only learn the textbook version of US history. But we'd like to change that.
Our event - based on the award winning book, 'The People's History of the United States' - seeks to put a 21st century twist on Howard Zinn's work. Through highlighting the voices of society's most marginalized, we hope to convey the importance of the other side of today's social movements.
Presented by Concordia's top speech and debate students, we will showcase several poems, speeches, and stories from various social issues including: The LGBTQ movement, gender, the environmental movement, homelessness, the Occupy movement, race, and the anti-war movement.
Please join us in celebrating the power of the people, and experience history as you've never seen it before.
