SPRING 2013 RELIGION 100 ENRICHMENT LECTURE


On February 7, 2013, at 7pm, Centrum – Knutson Center Dr. Stephanie Kaza, will deliver the spring 2013 Religion 100 enrichment lecture; the topic is "Responding to Environmental Suffering: Insights from Zen Buddhism" . All Religion 100 students are required to attend the lecture, and this lecture is open to the general public.

Kaza is Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont and Director of the Environmental Program, which currently has 500 majors enrolled. Her books include Mindfully Green (2008), for which the Dovre Center has sponsored a faculty reading, and Hooked! Buddhist Writings on Greed, Desire, and the Urge to Consume (2005), which has been used in several religion classes.

Kaza co-founded the Environmental Council at University of Vermont, a campus-wide consortium on sustainability, and is currently working on quality of life indicators for bicycle commuters.
