SGA Undergraduate Research Program
This program will support student involvement in research opportunities by funding two summer research fellowships, allowing SGA to significantly and distinctively contribute to Concordia’s undergraduate research programming. Funding will allow the fellows to pursue independent scholarly research or a creative/artistic endeavor under the close supervision of an academic mentor; students are encouraged to undertake a project that prepares them for responsible engagement with the world.
Summer research fellows will be awarded to students in any discipline or area of study. Fellows will receive a summer stipend of $3,000, a $750 travel award, and a research award for expenses totaling $700. Each fellow must identify an academic mentor to assist in the development of their project; faculty will receive stipends congruent with their involvement in the project. Current juniors, sophomores and first year students are eligible to apply.
Applications for summer 2012 will be due February 10, 2012.
*Requests must be received by April 5, 2013 in order to receive notification for this academic year. SPIF funding for 2013-2014 will be made available in September 2013.
SGA Sustainability Fund
The SGA Sustainability Fund Grants will be available for projects that support campus sustainability efforts. Student Government Association has established a Sustainability Fund to be allocated in partnership with the Concordia College Sustainability Task Force. The mission of Concordia College's SGA Sustainability Fund is to advance enduring and high-impact environmental sustainability projects, research, and initiatives on Concordia's campus. This funding is expected to meaningfully contribute to Concordia's ambitions to become an ecologically literate community.
