Hunger and Homelessness Week

Each year, one week before Thanksgiving, the National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness cosponsor a National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. During this week, a number of schools, communities and cities take part in a nation wide effort to bring greater awareness to the problems of hunger and homelessness.

Campus Service Commission partners with other student organizations such as Social Justice, Student Association of Social Workers, Student Government Association and Campus Ministry Commission to cosponsor a campus Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.

This year's awareness week will take place:

November 8 - November 12, 2010

The week's events in the past have included activities such as holding a hunger banquet or a homelessness simulation, letter writing campaigns to state representatives, discussion panels, group service projects, benefit concerts and more. Proceeds raised from the week's events have benefited the Dorothy Day House and YWCA.
