GO BEYOND!
Outreach is a two fold ministry involving students of all backgrounds and denominations uniting to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through profession and compassion. Service is given by community teams and traveling teams.
First of all, outreach is an organization that does its ministry primarily off-campus. Someone who would like to be involved with the ministry will join either a Community team or a Traveling team.Community teams go to either Juvenile Detention centers or the Nursing home. The JDC teams (there are 3) go out once a week and hang out with the boys and girls there and just get to know them and be positive influences on them. These teams do a number of activities, from sports games, to skits, to bible studies. Whatever works. The nursing home team goes over to Evergreen Terrace usually on Sunday afternoons and play bingo, lead some worships, and just spend quality time with the good folks over there.
Traveling teams meet once a week just to plan worship services, lock-ins, youth events, or Sunday schools that they will be leading on weekends. Teams go out a total of 6 or 7 times (most 2nd semester) to various communities in the Tri-State area. They will stay overnights at host homes, which are amazingly fun, or go out on Sunday mornings, coming back early Sunday afternoon.
Each outreach team is a great opportunity for anyone who is excited to help people and share their God-given gifts and talents to do so. It is a great commitment that helps people figure out their callings in life, as well as make some of the best friends they will ever have. It is a very Christ-centered organization, and we do a lot of fun things!
