Fundraising Ideas

Thinking of doing a fundraiser for your organization or your favorite social cause? The possibilities are endless! Here are a few ideas to get you started, but feel free to be creative!

Just be sure you follow Concordia’s fundraising policy and fill out the fundraising permit request form two weeks prior to getting started. If you have questions or want to discuss the logistics of your ideas, contact the Office of Student Leadership and Service (#4267).

Buttons/Magnets - Available through the Parke Student Leadership Center, buttons and magnets are easy and cheap to make. Sell them to members or at a table in Knutson.

Recycle Used Printer Cartridges through fundingfactory.com and receive prizes and/or money for your organization. Registration and participation are free!

Concerts/Benefits - Find a band or musical group willing to perform for free and sell tickets to the concert. Proceeds go to your organization and/or a pre-specified cause.

Car Wash - Find a good location off a main road (get permission!) or do it somewhere on campus like the Jake Christianson Football Stadium lot. Set up shifts with two lines, sell advance tickets, advertise in advance, and be sure to identify your organization and the price in your signs.

Clean-up Sponsorship - Find local businesses or individuals who will pledge a certain dollar amount for every pound of trash picked up along the river or highway.

Calendars - Get your own made or order them through a company. Sell them to students and/or the general public. You might even want to use member art or photography!

Hire-a-Student - Community hire-a-student raking, lawn mowing (or shoveling snow!), house/fence painting, etc. Advertise in the Forum and/or the Concordian.

T-Shirts - Make your own or order through a company. Sell to members or students.

Fashion/Style Show - Especially effective if directly related to your organization (i.e. organic clothing modeling for Student Environmental Alliance); sell tickets and possibly refreshments. You may even want to look into a sponsor to lend clothing.

Cards - Have members make cards (hand-made and/or decorated) for Valentine's Day, Easter, and/or Mother's Day and sell on campus. Works especially well if related to your organization (i.e. German cards for German Club).

Flower Seeds/Bulbs - Order through a fundraising company (i.e. wowfundraising.com) or by in bulk from a local store. Sell for Easter or Mother's Day gifts.

Jewelry - Buy loose beads in bulk and sell them by-the-bead so people can make necklaces/bracelets at the selling table. Or sell jewelry pre-made by members.

Awareness Ribbons - These are easy and cheap to make; just a roll of ribbon the color of your cause and safety pins. i.e. green ribbons for the environment, lavender for cancer awareness, etc.

Smencils - Scented 100% recycled pencils. Order from wowfundraising.com. Sell for $1 each. Warning: this requires an investment, but is a fun product that will probably get a good return.

Kiss-O-Grams - Sell written messages for Valentine's Day or St. Patrick's Day (kiss me, I'm Irish) to be delivered by members (with the help of a little lipstick) also plant kisses on recipients cheeks or hands.
