The mission of the Concordia Slam Poetry Society is to provide a venue for artistic expression through the medium of slam poetry or spoken word. The organization will allow students to creatively express themselves through this contemporary art form. In addition, all students involved will have the opportunity to further develop their own poetic abilities by working closely with other students. The Concordia Slam Poetry Society will allow students to collaborate together in an artistically motivated group in which each member grows with the aid of every other member. Not only will the organization provide performance opportunities for Concordia students, but it will engage the Fargo/Moorhead community through slam venues. This will give people within our campus (and community) an opportunity to address major contemporary issues through the art of spoken performance, providing a major service to the area and the college.
