Mathetai

Mathetai (from the Greek word meaning "disciples") is a group for Religion majors and minors, as well as student interested in religious and theological dialogue. Past events have included annual trips to Orthodox churches in Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada) and Crookston, MN to visit Mount St. Benedict Center. Other common events are movie nights with discussion, times for conversation around religion news, and the infamous (and student favorite) pancake cook-off between Religion professors, Dr. Roy Hammerling and Dr. Jan Pranger. Meeting monthly and bi-monthly, Mathetai aims to maintain an open, respectful, and ecumenical foundation, in an effort to encourage people of any faith tradition, or of no faith tradition, to join in religious and theological discussion, in becoming more thoughtful and informed individuals.
