| Meals Served Per Week |
DS serves 21 meals each week in Anderson Commons |
Many other private colleges close their dining centers on weekends or serve fewer than 21 meals a week. |
| Nutrition Information |
We have four registered dietitians on staff who offer free consultations to students on a meal plan. Our Mission Nutrition labeling program is more advanced than the majority of other colleges. |
Some colleges give their students nutritional information through an outside company that isn't even located on campus. Many colleges don't provide any information. |
| Vegetarian and Vegan Options |
All vegetarian options are indicated with a V on the label, making it easy for students to pick them out. Our dietetic staff works with vegan students and compiles personalized menus. |
What vegetarian options? You mean macaroni and cheese? |
| Variety |
Anderson Commons has ten different food stations with entrees that are constantly changing. |
Would you like going to a school that only serves pasta, cereal, deli, salad, soup and one entrée a meal? |
| Special Events |
Special Events and special food items are featured weekly in Anderson Commons |
What's a special event? |
| Customer Comments |
We utilize facebook and make changes based on customer comments. For example, the Explore theme changes each week this year thanks to Betty's suggestion |
Students may be able to leave comments but changes aren't made because of corporate policies. |
| Awards |
Dining Services has been nominated for Ivy Award and has received a Loyal E. Horton Dining Award |

| Parking |
Cobbers don't have to pay to park |
Many other colleges charge students to park, even when they just come to eat! |
| Hours |
Anderson Commons is open for twelve hours a day on week days! |
Other schools have limited hours their dining center is open. One private school only has their all-you-care-to-eat option available from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. |
| Money |
Our meal plans prices are similar to other private colleges. However, our foodservice is run by the college so any any revenue in excess of expenses goes back to the college for scholarships and programs. |
Many private colleges hire large for-profit outside companies to run their foodservice. |
