Concordia Forensics (Speech and Debate)

AFA 2012

Cobbers 15th in the Nation, 3rd Consecutive Top-Twenty Finish

 

Concordia speech competitors rose above 80 other colleges and universities to place 15th in the 2012 American Forensic Association’s National Individual Events Tournament.

Sixteen Cobbers qualified for the tournament, including seniors Alex MacArthur, Andrew Eilola, Justin Bertram, and April Reino, juniors Meg Henrickson, Britt Aasmundstad, Jenna Nypan, and Cole Kantos, sophomores Hannah Houle, Katie Wilson, and Joe Anderson, and freshmen Krysta Hovendon, Cristy Dougherty, Amber Morgan, Christiana Hennings, and George Kueppers. MacArthur and Eilola advanced beyond preliminary rounds to the quarterfinals in four total events, placing them in the top 24 in the nation. MacArthur quarterfinaled in three events - Poetry Interpretation, Informative Speaking, and Program Oral Interpretation. Eilola advanced in After Dinner Speaking. 

This is the third consective year the Cobbers have made placed in the top twenty in the nation, illustrating the quality of the team's members and coaching staff Megan Orcholski, Chris Scott, Joe Kennedy, and director Fred Sternhagen.
