A Blessing and a Curse:
The Power of the Internet on Our Religious Lives
Paul Raushenbush, senior religion editor for The Huffington Post
7 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2013
Centrum, Knutson Campus Center
The Internet has fundamentally changed the way we communicate and obtain information. Sacred and religious texts, theological debates and virtual pilgrimages are all just a click away.
The Internet can also be a wonderful tool for religion. However, the Rev. Paul Raushenbush, senior religion editor of The Huffington Post, calls it both a blessing and a curse.
The Internet should come with a warning: "Handle with Care." It is overflowing with information on religion and spirituality that can lift our spirits and help us to grow in knowledge and wisdom. However, the web can also deceive, harden hearts and enflame destructive animosities.
Raushenbush will share insights into how people of goodwill can best approach faith in the digital age, culled from over a decade of working in online religion.
This event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Forum on Faith and Life and the religion major concentration in faith and leadership.
