Each year, Concordia's Cultural Events Office sponsors several major events on campus, including the Performing Arts Series and the Faith, Reason and World Affairs Symposium. Through these events, you'll have the chance to engage in discussion on worldly topics, enjoy amazing dance and music performances, and become a part of the Concordia community.
The Performing Arts Series brings a variety of artists to campus to share their unique talents and cultures. Performances include everything from dance troupes and symphonies to brass quartets and painters. Events are ticketed.
The Performing Arts Series is supported in part by the late Stanley and Dorothy Kresge, National Endowment for the Arts, Minnesota State Arts Board, Lake Agassiz Arts Council and Heartland Arts Fund (a joint venture of Arts Midwest and Mid-America Art Alliance). The series is also supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts. All master classes in the Performing Arts Series are supported by a gift from the estate of C. Brian Christianson ’68.
The Faith Reason and World Affairs Symposium brings the community together to address significant world issues. The goal of the symposium, since its beginning in 1985, is to enable participants to make informed judgments through hearing and discussing divergent points of view. All events are free and open to the public.
The Cultural Events Office also helps promote additional Arts and Humanities events on campus, including music recitals, lectures, the Concordia Christmas Concert, National Book Awards at Concordia and more.
