The CHARIS Ecumenical Center is a program of adult lifelong learning for the church in the region and a program of grassroots ecumenical work. It is a partnership between Concordia College and four synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, two Roman Catholic dioceses, two United Methodist annual conferences, two conferences of the United Church of Christ, one presbytery, and one Episcopal diocese.
CHARIS lifelong learning opportunities are designed to meet the needs of the churches in the geographical area served by CHARIS. The courses, workshops and seminars are intended to equip both clergy and laity to minister more effectively to people in a rapidly changing society. Since CHARIS began in 1970, thousands of participants from nearly every denomination have been involved in these courses and events.
Ecumenism and now interfaith dialogue are fundamental to the mission of the CHARIS center. As participants from different religious backgrounds, you’ll enjoy studying and learning in an atmosphere of trust and understanding. You will be enriched and, in turn, enrich others.
