Graduates

Here are some words from recent graduates about their experience at Concordia and what they are up to now:

Ingvild Gundersen '12 - Skien, Norway

Ingvild

Concordia influenced Ingvild in many ways and challenged her academically. She liked that Concordia is small and that she could just walk around campus and find someone to talk to. Ingvild also liked the feeling of being part of a community. Class size is small so everyone has the chance to raise their opinion and get to know the professor.

Through Ingvild's position on the ISO board, she realized how much she wanted to work with people from different cultures. Ingvild especially enjoyed a course in her Intercultural Communication course. For a class project, she was assigned a refugee family through Lutheran Social Services. Her family was from Somalia. Her group went to see the family every week, helping the kids with their homework and teaching the parents English. She got along with the family so well that she kept seeing them after the semester was over. Her experience in that class encouraged her to apply for an internship with Lutheran Social Services and motivated her to pursue graduate work. Currently, Ingvild is working toward a master's degree in Intercultural Relations at Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass.

Peace Eneh '11 - Nigeria

Through the many opportunities at Concordia such as the LeadNow leadership training program, Peace gained skills to influence the world. Concordia equipped her to become a global citizen while growing her confidence to achieve her dreams of creating change in Africa, especially in the healthcare sector.

Peace led a Justice Journey to Jamaica, where she had the opportunity to apply her leadership skills to real life situations. She was also involved with the International Student Organization, an experience that gave her the opportunity to meet students from all over the world and form lifelong friendships. She recently co-founded an organization called New Afrique with fellow Concordia alumni and students, working on projects that will empower Africans to become self-sufficient.

After graduating from Concordia, Peace pursued an OPT STEM extension as a clinical research coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital. She will enroll in medical school at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire in Fall 2013.
