Hall Director Position

The Concordia College Professional Residence Life Staff has an anticipated opening for the 2011-2012 academic year.

The Residence Life department is seeking a Residence Hall Director who is enthusiastic about working within a team environment to support our students' learning and development.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Manage daily operation of a residence hall or residence hall area, including supervision of 8-12 student staff members, resident conflict resolution, crisis management and program advising.
  2. Create an environment in the residence halls that provides an inclusive, safe, healthy learning environment which promotes College and community values and personal growth and development.
  3. Develop positive relationships with hall residents and maintain a presence in the hall on evenings and weekends.
  4. Facilitate community development, providing opportunities for interaction, investment and involvement in hall and campus activities and advise hall council.
  5. Assist with the recruitment, selection, training and evaluation of student staff members.
  6. Uphold and enforce College policies/procedures and respond to crisis and emergency situations. Serve as the main student conduct administrator for the hall or hall area.
  7. On a rotational basis, serve as departmental on-call person. 
  8. Maintain regular hall office hours each week.
  9. Manage administrative tasks and procedures related to hall operations (maintenance work orders, fire alarm reports, room assignments, occupancy reports, etc.) and assist with resident check-in/out during openings and closings as well as breaks. 
  10. Support the College's Five Goals for Liberal Learning and the mission and goals of the Student Affairs Division.
  11. Participate in departmental and campus-wide programming activities and meetings (including Student Affairs division meetings, Administrative Council, etc.). 
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. Demonstrated leadership and administrative ability
  3. Ability to relate effectively to college students, parents, faculty, staff, and guests
  4. A commitment to advancing student development and learning
  5. Sympathy with the mission of Concordia College

Compensation:

Compensation includes salary and fully furnished apartment (including utilities, cable television, high-speed internet access, local telephone service, laundry, and reserved parking)
