EcoHouse

In the fall of 2012, Concordia College will open the EcoHouse, an off-campus housing facility that will be dedicated to sustainable living.  The EcoHouse will provide a unique living opportunity for four junior or senior students who are interesting in prioritizing sustainability and willing to serve as leaders to the campus community around issues of sustainability.

The house is located close to campus, and will be available to four upper-class students.  The house will have four bedrooms, two on the main floor and two on the lower floor.  The house will be available for both men and women, with men being on one level with women on the other level.

Students will play a key role in determining the projects and activities that become part of the EcoHouse.

Living in the EcoHouse

Students who are interested in living in the EcoHouse need to complete a short application form along with a personal statement that outlines their interest in sustainability and the opportunities provided by living in this unique environment.  The applications will be reviewed by a panel of students, faculty, and staff, and four students will be selected for each academic year.  Starting in 2013, the EcoHouse will be available for year-rouhnd occupancy (May 2013-May 2014).   Preference may be given to students who are interested in living in the EcoHouse for the full year, rather than the academic year.

Although the EcoHouse is located off campus, there will still be a strong connection to the campus community and residence life.  Many of the same policies that are in effect on campus will also be in effect at the EcoHouse.  Please review the EcoHouse Accommodations Agreement for a full list of rights, responsibilities, and expectations.
