Monica Kersting, Psy.S., NCSP
Director of the Counseling Center
Monica Kersting received her B.A. from the College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, MN and her M.S. and Specialist in School Psychology from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She has been on staff at the Counseling Center since 1984. She is licensed in Minnesota and North Dakota as a School Psychologist and is also nationally certified. Her special areas of interest include disability issues and services, learning/academic difficulties, learning/cognitive styles and psycho-educational testing.
Wanda McSparron, Ph.D., LP
Counseling Psychologist
Wanda McSparron received her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of North Dakota. She completed her pre-doctoral psychology internship at the Hamilton Center, Inc., a regional mental health center in southwestern Indiana. She has experience working with a wide variety of psychological/personal problems, with special interests in depression, anxiety, rural issues, working with victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, and psychological testing. Regarding research, her areas of interests include (1) depression and help-seeking behavior in the rural/farm population and (2) gender and career issues. Wanda is a licensed psychologist in the State of Minnesota.
Carol Sandgren, M.S., LICSW, Counselor, received her B.A. from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN and her M.S. in Counseling for Human Development from North Dakota State University. Her areas of interest include eating disorders, depression, relationship issues, sexual assault and women's issues.
Katie Lefor
Counseling Intern
Katie Lefor received her B.S. in Psychology from North Dakota State University. She is currently working on her M.Ed. in mental health counseling at North Dakota State University. Her special areas of interest are self-esteem, depression, and anxiety.
Barb Peach
Administrative Assistant
Barb Peach, Administrative Assistant, began work in the Counseling Center in September of 1997. She brought to us over 15 years of professional secretarial experience. A native of Hannaford, ND, Barb is married and she and her husband Al live in Fargo.
Rachel Baglien
Student Office Assistant
Rachel began working in the Counseling Center in September of 2009. She plans to graduate in the spring of 2011 with a degree in Social Work and is hoping to continue her education for a master's degree. She would like to work in a school or church setting in the future. Rachel's hometown is Grand Forks, ND.
