Campus computer labs
The Library is the central hub of public access computing at Concordia. We have the latest technology present there and well over 100 systems for student use.
The Instruction Labs (Ivers, Old Main, Mac Music Lab) allow for class sessions; however when class is not in session all students are welcome to come and use these computers. Some instructors allow for quiet work to be continued if there are extra systems available during the class. The usage schedule of these areas is posted on or around the door of the lab.
Residence hall labs give preference to residents who reside in them and have systems that work well for word processing, email and web surfing.
Specialty Labs are publicly accessible but are intended for specific use as determined by their location hosting them.
For a current listing of computers in the various campus computing labs, go to the Lab Info page.
Technology classrooms
Concordia has a multi-year process underway to develop technology-enhanced classrooms covering all of the classroom buildings on campus. The goal in developing these Tech Classrooms is to facilitate the use of multimedia courseware, presentations, web resources, simulations, media and other resources in the teaching and learning process. Tech Classrooms have a minimum standard configuration which includes dedicated computer, VCR, installed display device (currently ceiling-mounted LCD projectors), and audio system.
COWs - 'Computers on Wheels': In addition, the classroom buildings house portable systems comprised of computers, DVD/VCR combo playback units, speakers and data/video projectors which can be brought into any of the classrooms to access presentations, network resources or other instructional materials. Currently there is at least one 'COW' per floor in each classroom building (except Hindustan).
