College Risk Management Policy
It is the policy of Concordia College to provide a safe and healthy working environment. The college sponsors an ongoing program of risk management that includes safety education and safety monitoring. Reaching the goal of a safe and healthy working environment depends on each person's active support of, and participation in, the college’s safety efforts. As an employer, Concordia is required to develop, implement and manage an ongoing safety program in order to provide a work environment free from hazards. The Office of Risk Management and Safety has been established, through which Concordia College will:
1. Provide the equipment necessary for you to complete your job in a safe manner.
2. Provide safety training and updates concerning specific programs, policies and laws.
3. Provide assistance and information relating to your health and safety on the job.
As an employee of Concordia, you are expected to comply with all occupational safety and health standards, rules and programs. In order for the safety and health program to be effective, you are also required to report all injuries received on the job, and to notify your supervisor or the Office of Risk Management and Safety when you believe a hazard exists in your work area.
An effective safety program does not just happen and cannot maintain itself. It takes communication, commitment, education and a willingness to prevent accidents.
