1. How much does it cost to attend Concordia?
 
Comprehensive fees (tuition + room and board) for the 2013-14 academic year are $39,974. This includes $32,814 for tuition and fees, and $7,160 for room and board. Costs are subject to change annually.

2. Is financial aid available? If so, who qualifies?

Yes. In fact, over 99 percent of Concordia’s students receive some form of financial aid, with the average award reaching more than $25,000. Total financial assistance at Concordia exceeds $64 million from all sources, including gift assistance (like grants and scholarships), student loans and work study.

3. How do I apply for financial aid?

First, fill out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid and your application to Concordia. Concordia's FAFSA code is 002346.

Financial aid is awarded on a rolling basis to incoming students. This means that when we receive your FAFSA results, we will check to see if you have been accepted for admission. If you have, your financial aid will be awarded. Keep in mind that during February and March we receive hundreds of FAFSAs and processing takes longer.

Apply as soon as you and your parents have completed your federal tax returns. The priority deadline for upper-class students is May 1. There is no priority deadline for incoming students, but the sooner you apply the sooner you will receive your Notice of Financial Aid and be able to make plans accordingly.

4. I’d like to apply for scholarships. What is available?

We offer a variety of scholarships, some based on financial need and others that recognize abilities and talents. The competitive merit-based and performance-based awards, known as Concordia Scholarships, are offered in academics, music, theatre, art, and speech and debate. They range in value from $16,000 to more than $130,000 over four years.

You may also qualify for our Named Scholarships that are based on academic achievement and in most cases financial need. Each year, we offer more than 400 of these scholarships, made possible by donors to the college and named accordingly, that total more than $2 million.

5. How do I apply for scholarships?

Once you’ve been accepted for admission, we’ll send you more detailed information about scholarships to get your financial aid package started. More than 99 percent of Concordia students benefit from financial aid.

6. What is work study and how do I qualify for it?

Work study is a form of need-based financial aid to help you cover your college expenses. You can work on campus or through the American Reads program in Fargo-Moorhead. If you qualify, it will be a part of your financial aid package. And even if you don’t qualify for work study, you can still work on campus.

Unlike other forms of financial aid, your work study earnings do not go to your tuition account. Your bi-weekly paycheck goes directly to you. We recommend you use your earnings for books and spending money.


7. Is financial aid available for studying abroad?

Yes. Your financial aid would be credited to your account in the Business Office, just like if you were studying on campus. You can apply for federal or private loans to help cover the costs of additional expenses, such as airfare.

8. What is the federal school code for Concordia?

9. Does Concordia have a financial aid priority deadline?
