Appeal Process

If your family’s financial situation will be substantially worse because of any of the following circumstances, please complete an appeal form and forward it to the Financial Aid Office along with a verification form, signed copies of your and your parents’ federal income tax returns and W-2 forms.

Circumstances that may lead you to complete a financial aid appeal:

1. Extraordinary medical expenses not covered by insurance (amounts in excess of four percent of adjusted gross income)

2. Elementary or secondary tuition for siblings or dependent children

3. Significantly reduced parental income

4. Significantly reduced student income

5. Death of a parent

6. Recent divorce or separation of your parents

7. Child and elder care expenses

8. Other unusual, uncontrollable circumstances that will affect your family’s ability to contribute to college costs

Your appeal will be evaluated once we have received the appeal form, verification form, tax returns, W-2s and the FAFSA information. Appeals are generally considered once financial aid has been awarded to students who have applied on a timely basis.
