CONCORDIA DINING STAFF RECEIVE HIGH HONORS

The National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) awarded Jane Grant-Shambaugh the Theodore W. Minah Distinguished Service Award and Janet Paul Rice the Lichtenfelt Award at the NACUFS National Conference. Grant-Shambaugh, former director of Auxiliary Services at Concordia College and active member of the Fargo-Moorhead community, retired in 2007 after nearly 30 years at the college. Paul Rice is the associate director of Dining Services at Concordia and a former at-large NACUFS director.
The Minah award is NACUFS’ most prestigious honor. Selection is based on outstanding and enduring contribution to the foodservice industry and to the association. NACUFS’ board of directors and the council of past presidents select one new recipient each year. The Lichtenfelt Award, the second highest honor in NACUFS, is given to individuals who have furthered the NACUFS mission by making outstanding and significant contributions to the organization by volunteering their time and talents.
NACUFS is the trade association for foodservice professionals at more than 625 institutions of higher education and provides its members with a full-range of educational programs, publications, management services, and networking opportunities. Through participation in NACUFS, Concordia’s Dining Services team increases knowledge of the college and university dining services field, gains insight into culinary and higher education trends, and exchanges ideas with other professionals. By volunteering and serving in elected and appointed positions, NACUFS members increase soft skills in management, public presentation, time management, and leadership.
