Watch the Video: Gaining Real-World Experience

Laura Megorden ’09, Moorhead, says Concordia’s reputable premed program is the reason she transferred from another Minnesota private college and she hasn't been disappointed.

This summer, Megorden is shadowing a series of doctors at MeritCare Health in Fargo, N.D., exploring specialties such as dermatology, radiology, family practice and podiatry. Her classroom studies are coming to life as she visits with patients, poses questions and observations, and gets a better feel for what she’ll encounter at medical school.

Megorden is one of more than 40 Concordia students earning academic credit this summer at internships across the country. Just a sampling of the locations include Lutheran Social Services, Eide Bailly, the F-M RedHawks, Eyecare Associates, Cargill and Farmers Insurance. Experts in Concordia’s Career Center help match students with internships (also known as cooperative education experiences) that best fit their academic studies, interests and career plans.
