Three Dietetic Awards Given to Alumni

This spring was full of awards for recent graduates of Concordia’s Food, Nutrition and Dietetics program.
Olivia DeLeon ‘13, originally from Fargo, N.D., was selected as the 2013 Outstanding Dietetic Student in the state of North Dakota. This award is given to students who have demonstrated academic achievement and leadership potential.
DeLeon will attend the University of Mississippi in the fall for a combined Master’s program and dietetic internship.
Megan Myrdal ’09, pictured as a Concordia student on the right in the image above, was honored as the 2013 Emerging Dietitian of the Year in North Dakota. This award is given to dietitians who are at the beginning of their career and who have demonstrated leadership in research, education and management, among other things.
Myrdal attended Loyola University in Chicago after graduating from Concordia and currently works as an Extension Agent for Family & Consumer Sciences at the NDSU Extension Service in Bismarck, N.D. She will be attending NDSU in the fall for a Master’s in Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science.
Kirsten Anderson ’06 was also honored as the 2013 Recognized Young Dietitian in Montana. After graduating from Concordia, Anderson earned her Master’s degree in Public Health and Nutrition the University of Tennessee before joining the Peace Corps and serving in Guyana, South America. She now works for the Indian Health Service in Browning, Mont.
