Dovre Honored With Campanile Naming

Dovre CampanileConcordia is honoring President Emeritus Dr. Paul J. Dovre by naming the Centennial Campanile after him.

The Paul J. Dovre Campanile Naming Ceremony will take place immediately following Homecoming’s All-Campus Worship Sunday, Oct. 14. The worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. in Memorial Auditorium. The naming ceremony will take place at approximately 11:45 a.m. at the campanile.

Dovre retired as Concordia’s eighth president in 1999. A 1958 Concordia graduate, Dovre earned his master’s and doctorate degrees from Northwestern University. He came back to serve as a member of the Concordia faculty in 1963, beginning his presidency in 1975. Dovre also served as Concordia’s interim president in 2003-04 and again in 2010-11.

He is currently serving as the interim director of the Lorentzsen Center for Faith and Work in the Offutt School of Business.
