CONCORDIA TEAM TAKES THIRD IN COMPETITION
Four Concordia students were part of a group of more than 70 undergraduate students who spent nearly 30 hours providing insight into a business analytics problem from Fastenal® at the Midwest Undergraduate Data Analytics Competition (MUDAC) hosted by the department of Mathematics and Statistics at Winona State University. The Concordia team took third place in the competition, the University of Chicago won first place and a Winona State team took second.
MUDAC brought together competition participants, their advisors and several professional data analysts to serve as judges. Concordia participants were seniors Bryce Frentz, the son of Alan and Sandy Frentz, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Garrett Schiltgen, the son of Steve and Pattee Schiltgen, Hugo, Minn.; Stephanie Schilz, the daughter of Michael Schliz, Rosemount, Minn., and Rachel Eggen, Apple Valley, Minn.; and junior Erin Twohy, the daughter of James and Jeanne Twohy, St. Cloud, Minn. The team’s advisor was Dr. John Reber, assistant professor of mathematics.
“Data is everywhere, but knowing how to extract and communicate relevant information from data is a skill few possess,” said MUDAC Director Chris Malone. “MUDAC brings together the best and brightest future data analysts and allows them to showcase their sought-after talents.”
