CONCORDIA CHOIRS AND ORCHESTRA TO PRESENT CARMINA BURANA
The Concordia Choirs and Orchestra will perform Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana,” conducted by Dr. René Clausen, at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in Memorial Auditorium.
Approximately 450 student performers, including 15 of Concordia’s most talented vocal soloists, present one of the most popular and frequently performed works of the modern classical music repertoire. The orchestration is colorful and exciting and is based on 24 of the poems found in the medieval collection “Carmina Burana.” Compositionally, Orff makes use of simple patterns, frequent repetition and great contrast between male and female choral color.
The concert is free and open to the public.
