CONCORDIA TO HOST HIGH SCHOOL HONOR BAND
WEEKEND AND CONCERT
Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., welcomes high school students from six Upper Midwest states to campus April 5-7 for the sixth annual Concordia College High School Honor Band Weekend.
The participants, who were selected by an application/audition process, will have chamber sessions with Concordia applied music faculty. At the end of these sessions, each section will perform for the rest of the honor band members. Beginning on Saturday morning, they will be rehearsing challenging repertoire under the direction of Dr. Peter J. Haberman, the new director of bands at Concordia College, and internationally renowned guest composer/conductor Andrew Boysen, Jr.
The weekend’s activities will conclude with a performance by these top-level instrumental students at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 7, in Memorial Auditorium. At this concert, the band will perform the world premiere of a piece by Boysen which was commissioned specially for this year’s honor band. Also at this concert, The Concordia Band will perform under the batons of both Haberman and Boysen.
The concert is free and open to the public.
